Dr. Cheng Bian joined STAUNCH in 2023 as an Associate. He studied law in China, obtained his Master’s degree in international law, and passed the Chinese bar in 2012. He obtained his PhD in 2018 from Erasmus University Rotterdam, where he continues his academic career as an Assistant Professor of Business Law, in addition to his career in legal practice. His expertise focuses on international investment and trade law, Chinese law (Chinese business law in particular), and data law and governance. He has published widely including monographs, edited volumes, journal articles, policy reports and blogposts. At STAUNCH, he advises clients on matters related to Chinese laws and regulations, and advises Chinese clients doing business in the Netherlands and Europe. He is fluent in English and Chinese.
